Mike has over 20 years of experience in aging, technology and health having held executive leadership roles in home care and senior housing plus ongoing advisory and mentoring work in the age tech sector.
Mike is currently the Chief Transformation and Innovation Officer at United Church Homes – a 100+year old non-profit operator of senior living in 14 states, and a provider of case management and age-at-home solutions for CareSource – a managed care payer specializing in state Medicaid.
In this role he leads UCH’s digital transformation efforts which includes:
- Oversight of all innovation and piloting activity – driven through the UCH Transform Incubator Program.
- Development and management of UCH’s Human Centered Design development program.
- Strategic development of UCH’s digital assets including its Web properties, social content and digital customer engagement.
Prior to this role, Mike was an executive leader at Senior Helpers where he led efforts to integrate the home care service model into Medicare Advantage and managed care programs and was an innovation leader at AARP where he worked on several projects in the aging-at-home and family caregiving space.
Mike has also acted as a consultant for organizations interested or involved in the age-tech and health spaces. Notable projects include:
- Generali LLC – investigation of AgeTech startups for acquisition with eventual purchase of CareLinx LLC.
- HCG Secure – SME on family caregiving to support design of new insurance solutions for long term care needs. Includes development of a digital caregiver resource site.
- Tadmor Group – Market analysis and development to for acquisitions in the urgent care space.
- Intuition Robotics – Market sizing and strategic recommendations for expansion of senior focused robotics solution.
Michael is a noted ‘subject matter contributor’ for age tech, aging at home and family caregiving. He is engaged with a number of AgeTech incubators and regularly interacts with startups in the space for mentoring and guidance. These include the AARP AgeTech Collaborative, Techstars, Ziegler/ LinkAge, AgeTech Atlanta, CAHBI and The MIT AgeLab.
Mike holds a BA in Economics from McMaster University and an MBA from McGill University. Ongoing executive education includes Shared Value from the Harvard School of Management, Organizational Design for Digital Transformation from MIT and Human Centered Design from IDEO.
