Shelley Emling is an accomplished journalist, author, and senior media executive best known for her role as Executive Editor of Specialized Media at AARP where she oversees The Girlfriend and The Ethel newsletters, as well as The Girlfriend Book Club, The Ethel Circle, and other key social media channels. Shelley has also made significant contributions as a foreign correspondent, reporting for Cox Newspapers from both Latin America and Europe, and her writing has appeared in major outlets including The New York Times, Fortune, USA Today, and The International Herald Tribune. Her career began with United Press International in New Orleans, and she later covered Latin America, the Caribbean, the U.K., and Europe for Cox. Shelley has served as senior editor at HuffPost’s Huff/Post50.
